summer's bounty

Mostly the bounty of the farm co-op... and the neighbor's yard. A couple of the cherry tomatos are ours though.

stepping stones. These stepping

These stepping stones are in front of one of the houses in our neighborhood. They are irresistable. I don't think we've ever walked by without stopping to hop. For years. Something about their size, the gravel between them...

duped.

I'm interrupting summer vacation at Camp Mom right to share a couple of exciting things that have happened this week:

1.My book producer contacted me again finally (I thought she said early June?) and asked if I could get her some sketches and photos right away. Did that. Now I'm back to wait-and-see. In truth, I'm happiest if the book happens, but not until fall.

2.Got the new issue of Interweave Knits and noted a little reference to myself. There in the blurb about Knitty Gritty, there's something about a "restyling a sleeveless turtleneck". That's me!

3.I just tried duplicate stitch and, I have to say, I loved it. I didn't think I would, since I don't think I've ever heard an encouraging word about it. It's a bit like counted cross stitch (or what I imagine cross stitch would be like) and, sure, it's not as polished looking as intarsia, but for quick and dirty, give it a try!

knitty & knitty-gritty!

The new Knitty's out. 80,000 hits in 48 hours. I'd never have guessed that 2 years ago when Knitty was hatched. I'm interested on the feedback on this one. Many more knitters outraged by the political "Knitters against Bush" than by the licorice rope undies. But I think that's fine.

And the first episode of Knitty Gritty was on yesterday. The first episode airs again on the 4th at 4:30 EST. Can some kind soul tape it for me? My episode, it turns out, is 12th of 13, so it will air on the 17th of September. I'm eager to see what the show looks like though. Anyone remember to watch it?
